About

Hi I’m Joe Wilner, a transformation coach, facilitator of happiness, and author who is dedicated to helping people live a full, meaningful, and thriving life. I truly appreciate you visiting my site and please take a few minutes to explore what the community here is all about.

You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand. – Woodrow Wilson

What is this blogs mission?

Shake off the Grind is dedicated to empowering and motivating people to take leaps of faith and develop confidence to reach their potential. The site was started in 2010 with the goal of collaborating with others on a mission to find their calling and follow their passions.

We can be marked from the past or we can make a mark on the future. – J.C. Watts

Some of the topics you will find discussed here include: meditation, emotion regulation, positivity and well-being, as well as, productivity, accomplishing goals, and cultivating spirituality.

Who is behind Shake off the Grind?

Hi, I’m Joe Wilner, and I’m passionate about helping people enhance their well-being and quality of life.

I started this blog as a platform to share my journey of personal development, and for people to learn and grow from interacting with each other. Over the last few years I have really learned a lot about my strengths  weaknesses, potential, and mission in life. I hope the insights and content found here inspire you to find your personal mission and vision, and to live with purpose and conviction in all that you do.

In coaching I work with clients who are running from fear, living at a level of discomfort, deception, chaos or addiction, be it big or small.  They often feel not enough, unappreciated, separate and trapped by their circumstances. My customized coaching program allows participants to live from their purpose and wholeness where they are thriving on all levels – mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

I am a certified coach practitioner through the Certified Coaches Federation (CCF) and certified professional coach through Compass Global Group. I believe everyone can be happier by aligning life with a purpose, developing emotional awareness, and  incorporating  their signature strengths into everyday life.

You can connect with me and learn more at what I do at my personal website here.

I have contributed writing to many of other sites including Dumb Little Man, Pick the Brain, Motivational Memo, and The Change Blog. I also previously wrote a blog at PsychCentral.com about Positive Psychology that is a great source of information for creating a happier life.

My interest in coaching and positive psychology comes from my educational background. I have a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and am currently a Licensed Masters Level Psychologist in Kansas. I also have a Masters in Liberal Arts, with a concentration in Management and Leadership. I truly love learning and will be a “student” for life.

I’m a certified meditation instructor through the American Institute of Health Care Professionals (AIHC), and offer meditation classes to help people manage stress and develop emotional wellness.

Music has played a major role in my life. I’m a songwriter and play guitar, though my real passion is the the drums. I have been playing drums in studio sessions and live for around 14 years. I have played in many different styles of bands and have recorded my own album under the name Berkowitz, and hopefully I will resurrect this brand soon! My claim to fame was playing in front of thousands of people at Mix 93.3′s Red, White, and Boom concert with my previous band Kick Kick.

Well that should give you a better idea about who’s behind this blog. Thanks for stopping by and I would love to hear from you.
